     The interest group I'm talking about today is a group called Common Cause. Common Cause is a political watchdog group started in 1970 by John W. Gardner who was the former Secretary of Health, Education, Welfare under Lyndon B. Johnson. The groups core values are stated as  "upholding the core values of American democracy. We work to create open, honest, and accountable government that serves the public interest; promote equal rights, opportunity, and representation for all; and empower all people to make their voices heard in the political process." as they are a non-partisan group looking to government reform.  Common Cause has been an integral part to keeping the U.S. government in check with one of the former heads being part of the Watergate prosecution team!
